Well, that was disappointing
I've been playing the Solitaire on my luverly 80gig Video iPod for a while now (disclaimer: when I have absolutely nothing else to do), but had yet to complete a game. Perhaps the iPod one is just more difficult than the typical implementation, or perhaps I just suck at Solitaire. Who knows. But today my luck changed: I just broke this awful losing streak!
(Dear employer: I was on a bathroom break, ok? I'm almost expecting an email from HR: "Designated times for bathroom breaks are 10am - 11am and 3pm - 4pm. Apple, of course, is the sole god and guardian of usability. Using any of their many wonderful projects is as painless as breathing, right? Not the bloody Solitaire. The end-game, when I had all the cards out, took about an hour and over 10km on the clickwheel. I sat there, thumb cramping, rolling through the towers of cards, having to hit every one on the way down, just to get to the one which was open to go home. I mean, really?! The only reason I bothered was because I knew that the reward for this was going to be immense. That's the point of such challenges - you go through the slog-work and are compensated with a goddamned reward! Something to satisfy the little brain and make such diversions pleasurable.
And for fucks sake, this is Apple. There's gotta be a video with strippers and midgits and the holy beer volcano and gold coins which would literally materialise in the air and spill into my lap and unfortunately, in this case, be lost in the building's plumbing. I could barely contain my excitement for the belly-shaking excitement of....

WHAT?! "We have a winner"?! We have a piece of shit software, that's what we have. We have a goddamned game which I will never touch again. Even Microsoft knew enough to have cards scuttling across the screen like fleeing sand lice. Christ, I think I'm going to install iPodLinux on this thing just to erase the very memory of this AWFUL game. Even if it doesn't work properly.
I am so pissed off right now.
God, this effort with no reward scene is an absolute theme in my life at the moment. I wanna go be a lavender farmer.

Actually some of the games they sell on the iTunes store are pretty good.
Minigolf is a blast. I'm just waiting for Steve to release that API so we can get touch apps/games without jailbreaking. Pressing the pretty virtual buttons does get a bit old eventually.........
